WHAT A SHOW!

Having read reviews on this page me and my wife were worried, being a musician and long time lover of Irish music we took our seats with a deep breath wondering what on earth we were about to see. How wrong we were to be worried, my one comment was I’m pretty sure nobody knew the opening number of the show which gave the illusion of a musical however I am glad it diverted after that … by the end of Galway girl I was in heaven. The musicians were great fun and brought great energy and the dancers were fantastic. The set was basic but the lighting effects made up for this having watched lots of shows at the Hexagon the technical elements are often left lacking but the lighting in tune with the dancing and I am struggling to see how anyone below can comment on the sound negatively it was so clear and lively. I know it’s good when my foot is tapping throughout and I’m singing along. The opening number left me concerned but by the end I was overjoyed and even a little emotional.

WOW

I didn’t watch the show but I spoke to my nan after the show that she had watched and she was so happy she has had it hard in recent times and she said she has never felt so alive apparently one of the cast spoke with her after the show in a very respectful and kind manor and I can’t thank him enough. Thank you for bringing so much joy to my vulnerable but beautiful grandmother

EXCELLENT CELEBRATION OF IRISH CHRISTMAS

Loved the show - the theatre was packed with an audience who loved the format - the singing was fine although one of the caste couldn't take part owing to illness. and the dancing was excellent - real authentic Irish dance. The lighting and effects were fine - the only criticism was the sound - we were in the side circle and the spoken word was so distorted that we couldn't understand what was being said.understand what was being said.

BRILLIANT SHOW

We went to the 2.30 matinee. A show full of energy, great music, great songs, great dancing. So much enthusiasm from the performers who worked so hard to give the audience a brilliant couple of uplifting hours. Lots of opportunities for audience participation during the Irish songs and festive songs and everyone was up dancing at the end - which came all too quickly. A perfect start to the festive season.

5.0 star rating Benjamin & Helen from Manchester

AMAZING

The cast were very good and the dancers were breath taking - Only thing was the set was abit basic but the sound the cast made was stunning! Cant wait to book for next year!

FAIRY TALE OF NEW YORK. NOV 2023

My family all thoroughly enjoyed this. I had read some poor reviews and was wondering what we were in for. However, it was exactly what I was expecting, a selection of Christmas songs sung and danced to with an Irish bent. Some we sang along with and or clapped to the beat. Good production simple but effective staging. Great irish tap dancing. Packed audience all participating. We were one/75yrs, one/47yrs, one/33yrs, one/18yrs, one/16yrs and one/5yrs and as i said we all enjoyed it. I have no hesitation in recommending this show.

4.0 star rating Clare from Birmingham,

GREAT SHOW

We went in expecting a poor performance based on the reviews we read here.. I'm pleased we went with it though as we absolutely loved it. Great songs and singers, equally as good dancers and fabulous atmosphere. We plan to see it again in the future!

4.0 star rating Peter from Great Ayton

I LOVED IT

Saw the show in Milton Keynes with my sister and thought the show was good but after seeing it in Stockton last night it was even better and I don’t know what the sound man did but it was so much better and made me appreciate the stunning vocalist on display. My one comment on both performances was the younger gentleman who didn’t play a guitar looked miserable both times which is a shame as he has a good voice! Great show!

4.0 star rating Brian from Stockton

GREAT SHOW

Loved the show although was confused as to what it was. But for what it was I was having an amazing time. Only small thing was the bar staff were quite rude to my wife but that’s not on the show! Dancers where fab!!!

3.0 star rating Janet from Liverpool,

WEST END

Not sure it was west end quality. Desent show but feel there's alot of false advertisement. Quiet a few people left during the performance. Dancers were great to watch. Was expecting a little bit more

3.0 star rating Vicky Dyer from Woking, England

DISAPPOINTING

My husband and I were really looking forward to a bit of Christmas Nostalgia this is was not. It was very disjointed. Not festive. We paid I feel to much for our tickets, we have attended a few shows that have been cheaper and much more nostalgic. The dancers doing the Riverdance at the end were great. That is my pos.

MORE OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL CONCERT

I read the reviews prior to watching the show so my expectations were low. However, on watching the show I thought some of the comments were harsh or maybe we got lucky and saw a better version. I found the cast talented and the whole performance felt natural and uplifting. I won’t lie and say that I wasn’t disappointed that there wasn’t a storyline but as I wasn’t expecting one (thanks to the reviews) I was happy to go with the flow and really enjoyed it. In short I have spent 30 quid on worse things and I’m glad I got to see this show I will agree that more effort could have gone into the stage set but the cast were endearing. Have given 3* because of lack of storyline and stage set but this show could be something really good with a little more imagination from the producers.

3.0 star rating Emm from Oxford

GOOD VIBES

Not what I thought the show was going to be about. Was more concert vibe going on. Had a nice afternoon all the same with friends, beats sitting in front of a laptop working. If you like Christmas, Ireland, and Irish dancing this is for you.

3.0 star rating Oakley from Oxford,

DIFFERENT TO EXPECTATIONS 🥹

A jolly Irish Christmas song/dance performance, which seemed much more suited to a local music venue rather than a city centre theatre: we were so disappointed. Yes the Irish dancing was good and the singing was okay, but it was unexciting. The sound quality was poor, the screen with constant photos seemed like an advertisement for Ireland, and the scenery/ backdrop pretty simple. . We thought there would be a story to hold the performance together and we really disliked being asked to ‘join in’ with songs or clapping… leave that for the pantos please! Hence we left at the interval.

3.0 star rating Caroline from Brighton,

WHERE DO I START?

Good bits first! They are good musicians, singers and dancers. It’s just not clear what they do! It’s not an Irish evening. It’s an Irish cast doing cheesy Christmas covers with the odd Irish song thrown in. The scenery was generally low budget and looked more like something from an amateur dramatic society. The show was best described as straight off a cruise ship. It’s a shame as it wasn’t that it was terrible it’s just that it wasn’t a sing along, it wasn’t a carol concert, it wasn’t an evening of Irish music, it wasn’t a musical - it was a mash up of all of it. I couldn’t in all honesty say I would recommend it but I have to say, not sure whether it was Xmas cheer or alcohol, but the rest of the audience seemed to like it! So maybe it was just me!

2.0 star rating Jo from Liverpool,

SHOULD BE CALLED A CONCERT

Nothing about this is a fairy tale of New York, I was so disappointed I should be refunded... Could not hear what was getting said and if I didn't know the song I certainly could not make out the words This is not a play, it's a concert.

2.0 star rating Kathy Atkins from London, England

LEFT AT INTERVAL

A very boring show,no story, just mediocre singing, the Christmas songs were especially tedious.

2.0 star rating from London, England

POOR PERFORMANCE

We also left at the interval. Poor performance, far from authentic. Very amateur. Nowhere near the standard of Seven Drunken Nights. Also sound issues and lights shining straight in our face. This should have been resolved before hand. Overall very disappointing.

2.0 star rating Penny spokes from London, England

VERY AVERAGE

Sound terrible and an extra long interval for the sound engineers to try to fix it. No apologies. Rather same throughout no story line just Christmas songs and Irish songs and dancing

2.0 star rating LW of Fleet from Woking, England

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY

The soprano was flat. The female instrumentalist looked bored and didn’t cope well when there were sound issues. Dresses didn’t seem to fit all. Lots of people left at the interval. Might have been better after a few drinks and during advent but not on Remembrance Day.

2.0 star rating Tracey Driscoll from Woking, England

DISAPPOINTED

Attended last night in Woking theatre, and left during the interval as did many others! Was expecting a show not just singing and dancing! The set was very poor and the video in the background was on a loop. Was really hoping for a Christmas show including singing and dancing but there was no show! Shame on you, the people advertising this event. We should have our money back.

2.0 star rating from Birmingham,

VERY DISAPPOINTING

I feel this was portrayed to be some Christmas magical fairy tale , sadly it was nothing like it , no story , just a group of irish singers and dancers . Feel cheated and all my group of 12 said it was not what they expected . quite a few people in close proximity to me left in the interval and did not return .

2.0 star rating Shorn from Oxford,

VERY POOR

Saw this in Cardiff again sound not great but singers and musicianship are poor. Dancers weee good. Overall it’s a very underwhelming performance and a lot of songs butchered

2.0 star rating Kitty Carey from London

NO STORYLINE, JUST SINGING AND DANCING AND BASIC PRODUCTION VALUES

The production values were super basic and the outfits looked like they were from Shein or Alibaba. If you're actually Irish give it a miss as it's really put on for "OIRISH" who have a stereotyped idea about the old country. The show would probably go over better in the US for this reason. I saw it at the Dominion in London and the lighting was awful. No spotlights on the performers and the best bit - the Irish dancing - couldn't be properly heard as there were only 2 mics on the floor to pick up the tapping. I paid £37.50 a ticket which isn't bad for the West End, but this isn't a WE quality show. I'd say it was worth <£20 per ticket as long as you know you're just going to see singing and dancing and no plot. The set was also cheap looking and amateur. If you've already bought tickets my best advice is make sure you get well oiled at the bar beforehand and then you might have a bit of a laugh. Best bit was the spontaneous breakouts of Irish rebel songs in the bar at the interval.

LEFT AT THE INTERVAL

I have never before left in the interval but this was just boring and I fell asleep in the last song before the interval. Great if you like Irish dancing but thats about it.

1.0 star rating CB from Oxford,

NOT VERY GOOD

Left at the interval. Just dancing and singing , would maybe enjoy it more if Irish as lots of Irish dancing and songs. Waste of money, didn’t enjoy it at all. Set not very inspiring.

1.0 star rating Clare Toland from Birmingham,

AWFUL JOKE OF A SHOW

This has to be the worst show I have ever seen. Watched it at Derby Arena last night and I have never laughed so much at the spectacle I witnessed! Miming over songs, pretending to play instruments, not to mention the completely different cast compared to the one advertised to sell the tickets! Fake Irish accent of the main singer, all in all an absolute joke of a show that plays on people's want to cling onto Irishness! Shocking 'Irish' dancers...a complete amateur show if I ever seen one! Felt like a year 6 school performance! They certainly took the money and ran! Average singers and cringey moments to allow for crowd participation of a crowd that would rather be gauging their eyes out than watching this show!! Give or take a handful of people that so desperately wanted to Irish they would applaud a turd. I will remember this show for the rest of my life...holding a guitar and strumming it while not changing notes, fake tin whistling, electric guitar notes coming from an acoustic guitar!! Honestly, if you want a laugh please attend, but just know you will be wasting a few hours of your time you will never get back!! Wish there was a better place to leave a review rather than on a Birmingham site as I feel like the paid reviews from this show from 2 years ago do not reflect what I saw and I would like people to save their money! I don't know what else to say!

(ALSO) AT THE INTERVAL

My group, along with others, left at the interval as this show was so dull and lifeless. The performers were all talented in their own right however the show itself was baaad.

1.0 star rating Yohann from Liverpool,

LEFT HALF WAY THROUGH

Basically just peoples singing Christmas songs, it would have been “ok” for a school show made by kids but not for a theater. Save your time and money and ask your Alexa “ play some Christmas songs “

1.0 star rating LM from Liverpool,

TERRIBLE

. very amateur, like being at a school Christmas concert, I was expecting a storyline with songs, but it was just Christmas songs.. left at the interval Waste of money.

1.0 star rating S Gall from London, England

MRS

Awful. Left early. Too many Christmas songs . Don't know why title of show was relevant. Also problem with sound.

1.0 star rating Mary from London, England

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK

Terrible show. We left just after the interval. Apart from the violinist the cast seemed very amateurish. Not one decent singer!! What a waste of money.

1.0 star rating Paul murphy from London, England

AWFULL

no story to this show whatsoever..poor sound quality..really lazy and slack production..the audience were leaving before the first half..it was an one night only show at wimbleton..which is a relief...AVOID !!!!!

1.0 star rating Jackie Marley from London, England

VERY POOR SHOW

We were expecting a really good night but this was very boring. Just singing Christmas songs, good Irish dancing though but not much, nothing to keep you gripped. Sound was also bad at Wimbledon. Many people left and complained about this. Very disappointing. Shame

1.0 star rating J McDonagh from Liverpool,

WE LEFT AT THE INTERVAL AND WE WANT A REFUND!

We go to shows here very ofter but this show is appalling! Its 11 people doing the whole show badly and just singing cover songs. The choreography is very poor and no narration regarding the actual story and its chaotic! This is very badly misleading and mis sold and absolutely nothing about the Fairytale in New York whatsoever! getting a refund seems impossible. We have never left a show at the interval before but we could t stand another 45 mins of the appalling singing and dancing with no relevance. We did speak to the manager who seemed disinterested.

1.0 star rating Dfk from London, England

TRULY AWFUL

Possibly the worst show I have ever been to .Torture is the only thing I can compare this to .My main regret was not leaving with some other people I saw sneaking out half way through the first half .Cast was very amateurish .The sound was poor but looking back that was a plus factor !!!

1.0 star rating Shelagh Shannon from London, England

A WASTE OF TIME

I am not sure what this was supposed to be about. All of the singers were awful and the words were inaudible. The only 'professional' was the violinist and the Irish dancers were also ok. Otherwise rubbish - I too left at interval as did a lot of the audience

1.0 star rating Lynne mcmanus from Birmingham,

VERY BORING

Did not enjoy it, cast could not sing, no atmosphere, one of the worst shows I have seen.

1.0 star rating Cs from Birmingham,

FAIRYTALE IN NEW YORK

Very disappointing Bored Left at interval

1.0 star rating Liz from Woking, England

WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

This performance would have been second rate in a church hall. I've seen English school children perform better Irish dancing! The whole thing was cringeworthy. I have never before got up and walked out whilst a performance was underway - but I couldn't stand it any longer! Please don't waste your time. If you have already bought tickets just chalk it up to a life lesson and don't turn up!

1.0 star rating Andy from Woking, England

RUBBISH!!!!

We were so looking forward to this. It was the poorest live performance I have ever seen. Poor singers who even forgot their lines!! A very boring set. Just a collection of Christmas songs badly sung. An awful Brummie trying to put on an Irish accent - you then couldn't understand a word he sung. The dancing was the best about the show.

1.0 star rating Kate from Woking, England

AWFUL

Couldn’t wait for the interval so we could get out and leave! It was terrible and a complete waste of money and time.

1.0 star rating Lydia from Woking, England

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL

This was hilarious! But not in a good way! Couldn’t wait to leave in the interval as my toes were curling, so cheesy! And falsely advertised in my opinion! Will be requesting a refund…

1.0 star rating Kate from Oxford,

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK

Very poor quality and a mishmash of genres. The play had no clear identity and no unifying theme leaving the different aspects, the visuals, dancing and songs to just happen randomly.

1.0 star rating CMM from London, England

FAIRYTALE OF NY AT WIMBLEDON

I would have given zero star but couldn’t! The worst show i have ever been to. Music too loud so couldn’t hear the singing - turns out that was a bonus. Dancing very basic - nothing very technical about it- seen loads better at a feis. Upstairs couldn’t hear at all.A clear light was blinding as it came round- think it should have been a colour- had to hold head down to avoid it. Hate the fake irish accent especially! Extremely poor show which needs to be withdrawn from public display immediately & anyone who had the misfortune to go should be refunded! School productions far superior to this poor excuse of a show. Seven drunken nights production team were promoting this show so would have expected a similar standard. I along with others left in the interval which was extended as they tried to sort out the sound! Spoke to a couple of people who stayed for second half & they said it was just as bad & they were sorry didn’t leave. I have never heard so many negative comments about any show ever!

1.0 star rating B White from Blackpool Lancashire

KARAOKE SINGING AT ITS WORST

One of the worst shows I have sat through . Very amateurish. They sang famous Christmas Songs and ruined them !! Lots of people left during the interval . Wish I had !!!,

1.0 star rating Lucy from Milton Keynes, England

MORE LIKE A SCHOOL PRODUCTION

The show was a huge letdown. Nothing to do with fairy tale of New York, no storyline, just back to back cover songs which weren’t done very well. The dancers were good but the set was underwhelming, poor production. Overall just didn’t stand up to professional stage quality. The show title is misleading. I saw seven drunken nights and it was amazing. This show just didn’t hit the mark. It’s not even worthy of being called a show. It’s a group of average singers singing cover songs the whole way through. People left at the interval. Anyone who’s used to seeing proper musical shows will be massively disappointed.

1.0 star rating Lorraine from Milton Keynes, England

APPALLING

This show is appalling and should be renamed an Irish Christmas sing a song that has nothing to do with New York. Left in half time, tickets were £37 and a complete waste of money. I would normally recommend the Milton Keynes theatre for the shows, but think something went wrong this time, awful singing, awful dancing and absolutely mind numbingly boring . Watching paint dry was more interesting

1.0 star rating Eoin Brown from Birmingham,

BRUTAL

Well what can I say , I was in desperate need of some cheering up after learning about the closing of my favourite restaurant , Deanes at the start of the week and I foolishly believed this show would provide some much needed escapism. How naive I was, this show is the equivalent to auditory abuse how it has sold ANY tickets is beyond me. The vocals are pitchy, the dancing is cringeworthy and the tin whistle seems to only produce sounds I imagine greet you as you enter hell. To sum it up don’t go

1.0 star rating Eoin brown from Birmingham,

BRUTAL

I was in much need of a cheering up after my favourite restaurant Deanes announced its closure at the start of the week , I thought this show would provide some much needed relief. How wrong was I. This was painful to watch, the vocals were pitchy, the dancing was cringeworthy and the tin whistle spouted sounds I only imagine you hear when entering hell. To sum it up don’t go.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH

A total waste of time. Keep your money. We had to leave at the interval. Really wanted to leave after 5 mins.

1.0 star rating from Milton Keynes, England

POOR SHOW

Agree with all of the comments a very poor show, we left during the interval. It felt very amateurish and it was certainly not what I was expecting. No storyline or planned order of songs. I did not feel Christmassy at all when I left, a very flat show!

1.0 star rating Julie Carr from Birmingham,

FAIRY TALE OF NEW YORK

Just seen this in York. Agree with you all. It was dire and we left at the interval. How it’s still allowed to be shown is beyond me!!! I’ve never left a show before and was throughly disappointed and shocked. I knew after the second song we’d been conned!

1.0 star rating Elizabeth from Milton Keynes, England

TERRIBLE

Terrible show! Don’t bother wasting your money. No story line, falsely advertised. Left at the interval

1.0 star rating Maria DAgostino from Milton Keynes, England

LEFT AT INTERVAL

I was so disappointed no story line didn't know really what was going on, poor sound quality and was so loud left my ears ringing. Performance very amateurish definitely not value for money, we party of 3 left at interval like so many others. Did make a comment to Supervisor on way out but felt like they weren't that interested

1.0 star rating Sarah from Milton Keynes, England

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK

Boring, dancers should stick to dancing, not singing. Issues with volume downing out what was being sung, lighting glaring into audience. Seen better school plays. Wished I hadn't wasted my time and money going to see this. If I had been on the end of an aisle I would have walked out after 15 minutes. As it was I left in the interval.

1.0 star rating L from Milton Keynes, England

SHOCKING AMATEUR JUMBLE OF RUBBISH

Awful - cheap scenery, terrible Irish dancing which consisted of ladies moving their arms about, out of tune singers, ludicrously incoherent PowerPoint playing in the background with no relation to what was on stage, phony Irish accent of the cheesy lead character and just a mishmash of Christmas songs intertwined with some Irish songs with no story line at all. If I had paid £5 to see it at a labour club I’d have said it was an ok craic but for the money we paid we were ripped off. We bought it on the back of the seven drunken nights show about the Dubliners which was fantastic and were expecting more of the same but it was not a patch on that. Best part about it was the interval (during which half the theatre left)

1.0 star rating Diane Barrett from Milton Keynes, England

RUBBISH FAIRY TALE OF NEW YORK.

What can I say!! A waste of money and time. I work in a school and my children could have done a better performance. The stage setting was terrible. No story, no fun. Just song after song. The singing was not that great. Money should be given back. We also left in the interval as it was so bad!

1.0 star rating Clive from Coventry

VERY POOR

Very amateur performance. False accents. Poor singing generally.

1.0 star rating Nic from Birmingham,

VERY POOR

How did they get this so wrong?! At least make the costumes fit the cast and run an iron over the girl’s dresses before the show. These are the least of the problems. There is no story telling at all. It’s as if they haven’t understood the formula of what made seven drunken nights work.

1.0 star rating Nicola from Birmingham

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!

Worst show I've ever seen! Lots of people left at the interval, including us! Waste of money, and time!

1.0 star rating Paul Bridgewater from Birmingham,

APPALLING

I was lost for words- the worst show I've ever seen. Amateurish performance by a student cast who could not sing and dancers who could not dance. I've seen better productions at my local college. No story line - Fairytale? What Fairytale? A cast of three boys and eight girls simply alternate between rying to sing a song, a Christmas or Irish number and prancing around the stage. How can the Alex theatre be associated with this appalling production and cast. They should be refunding customers the £32. I couldn't wait until the interval so I could leave, as did many others! I'm struggling to give it one star.

1.0 star rating Laura from Birmingham,

WORST SHOW EVER SEEN!

I just can't even find the words to explain how deflated myself and party felt after seeing this tonight. Awful so amateur and flat. Nothing like advertised. I'm surprised and disappointed at The Alex theatre for even hosting and charging for this show. I feel I'm not alone with the many negative reviews. Not sure quite what went wrong!?

1.0 star rating Gillian Drumm from Birmingham,

WORST SHOW WE’VE EVER SEEN!

We walked out at the interval but could have left after first 15 mins! Have seen better performances at local village hall Singing was off key Dancing was ok but mediocre Set was what you would expect at a school performance Complete waste of money House was packed so somebody made a killing Alexandra theatre should give full refunds if they want future customers

1.0 star rating Mary from Kings Lynn

FALSE ADVERTISING

Where was the fairy tale as advertised ? We watched this at Kings Lynn and it’s really a melody of songs, inaudible because the sound was so loud and the main lead male almost screams when both singing and talking, The bright lighting was all wrong, it shone dazzling bright into our eyes. The dancers, female singer who sang “Holy Night” and female violinist were good, maybe leave the show to them and take the three males out of it because their performance is so cringe worthy.

1.0 star rating Bridget from London, England

IS IT A MUSICAL,IS IT A SINGLONG,WHAT IS IT?

I had high hopes for this production, combination of Christmas and Ireland, what more could you want? Well in my opinion, a storyline would be good ,failing that some continunity, fast, slow, dance and repeat. Felt so disappointed

1.0 star rating Pat Hodges from Birmingham,

DISAPPOINTING

Not worth the money. Costumes were terrible did not fit some cast members, random costume additions. Same stage set throughout which was also very poor. So disappointed thought this would get us into festive spirit , absolutely no chance. Could not understand most of dialogue dancing was OK but same all the time. Would have left at interval but member of group thought 2nd half maybe better. Unfortunately, it was not. Has to be worst show I've ever seen at The Alexander Birmingham. The price paid by patrons was not reflected in product.

1.0 star rating Keeley from York,

SHOCKING

Oh dear! I was so gutted. From the opening they were out of tune, it seemed rushed, and so disjointed! Couldn’t hear the words. Dancers mediocre - but pretty. It was not a musical but a gig! And a quiet gig. I couldn’t believe how many people were leaving - we left too! Never witnessed that before at anything I’ve been to.

1.0 star rating John and Sue West from Oxford,

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK IN OXFORD

This has to be the worst show we have ever seen in our lives. Singers singing to diabolical backing tracks. Musicianship non existent. It was like spending 2 hours at my eight year old granddaughters Nativity play without the feeling of pride but equally as cringy. There should be a legal suit for misrepresentation (Fairy-tale of New York?) more like Nightmare in Oxford.!!!! Complete waste of money for cheap entertainment. There are plenty of quality musicians and singers in Oxfordshire that could have put on a much better show than this and would have been happy with a few pints and a couple of quid in their pockets. The one star is for the dancers.

1.0 star rating Julie Eason from Derby

DIRE

Attended Nottingham production last night. I couldn't believe how bad it was. The sound quality was appalling. There was no structure to the show. It was like an advert for the Irish Tourist Board. The singers on the whole were poor. The dancers could dance but far too many repetitions. A waste of an evening and too expensive for what it was. I felt cheated.

1.0 star rating Matt from Oxford

LIKE A HOLIDAY CAMP SHOW BUT WORSE

Saw this at Oxford and it was pretty dire. Amateur night at the local pub more than a professional show. Would have been booed off at a holiday camp. Sound balance dreadful with voices drowned by the prerecorded track, couldn't make out the words, no story, definitely not a fairytail.

1.0 star rating S Wilson from Nottingham

DISAPPOINTED NOV 2023

The production was terrible. The cast were not the same as in the advertised trailer. Missed the old guy sorry don’t know his name. Very nearly left at the interval. The female singers and Irish dancers were good. The show was late starting and the interval was 10 minutes longer than advertised. Felt like they didn’t want to be there.

1.0 star rating Des from Oxford

EMBARRASSING

Disjointed, poor singing and ridiculous mime instrument playing. Cheesy, just a random run of any song with Christmas in the title. Only the dancers got our applause. Avoid.

1.0 star rating Anita wiseman from Stockton,

FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK

I am in total agreement with majority of people in Birmingham. It was an amateur production on a shoe string. Karaoke I expected better for £30

1.0 star rating Keeley from York,

SHOCKING!

Just a waste of money and an evening. Agree with all complaints. Dreadful.

1.0 star rating Margaret from Glasgow

A TRAVESTY

Saw this in Glasgow. Had high expectations having seen Seven Drunken Nights. Recorded music, average singers, dancers efficient. 'Driving Home for Christmas' will never be the same again. A cynical exercise in getting money for anything with the word 'Irish' attached to it. An amateurish, twee, cringing experience. The Saturday night Val Doonican TV shows of my childhood was nightmarishly playing out in front of me. Would be loved in an old people's residential home. We left early

1.0 star rating Al from Bournemouth

ABSOLUTELY SHATTERED

I can't believe my wife paid for this show as they should have paid for me to attend. At best a high school production and definitely not close to any standard London west end show. First time ever, I left at interval. We traveled far to see this and were very disappointed.

1.0 star rating Susan from Manchester, England

TERRIBLE PERFORMANCE

Tickets mis-sold this is not a show based on Fairytale of New York, but a group of singers and dancers singing a combination of Irish songs and Christmas carols. Beyond awful, set awful, sound system was appalling! Amount of people leaving at half time and number of poor reviews this should be refunded. I have attended better school plays so disappointing! Screen behind stage seems like an advert for Irish Tourist Board.

1.0 star rating Cc from Manchester, England

SO DISAPPOINTING

I don't know where to start .... it was so loud and tinny painful on the ears ! The lights were blinding when. Turned onto the audience. As for the get up of the musicians shocking ... a false inaccurate portrayal of Irish people! The singing was horrendous more shouting than singing ... a serious lack of talent ... it wasn't a concert but a cross over between Cabaret and a very poor musical ... we subsequently left half way through .... very disappointing!!

1.0 star rating Katherine from Manchester, England

TERRIBLE

Awful fake Irish accents , dreadful cheap costumes and sets. Basically like a never ending school talent show .It was funny then became torturous. We (and many others) left in the interval. It’s just a hodgepodge of Christmas songs sang with an Irish accent . Pure tripe. Don’t waste your money or energy

EDINBURGH

Saw this last night in Edinburgh. Bailed at the interval. It was so bad the wife said she would rather have gone to the pub to watch Villa v Arsenal.......and she detests football.

LEFT AT THE INTERVAL

Just watched this in stoke on Trent tonight. Not wasting my time to write a long review but have to say the majority of people who have reviewed this as rubbish are correct. From the marketing and promotion and the fact it was a sell out I was expecting something of an extravaganza. Left at the interval and like others was the only time I have done this in 50 years of going to shows and concerts. Think they're manipulating social media and the reviews. In short it was atrocious. If you have bought ticket like me then write an honest review

HOW DO THEY FILL A CONCERT HALL?

I've been to hundreds of concerts but this is the first one I've walked out of. Waste of 45 minutes of my life. The audience started off enthusiastic but not for long. How can folk write good reviews for such drivel?

EXCRUCIATING!!!

We had good seats in the stalls and were looking forward to Christmas fun! The sound was poor and, as most of the background music was on a recording this was excruciating, as was the lighting which was piercing at times. The set was basic. The performance bore no resemblance to the advertised blurb which enticed us down to Brighton from Cambridge - this is misselling pure and simple.
